Over the last 2 years, I’ve heard a lot about Red Light Therapy (RLT) and its many benefits. RLT works by creating a biochemical effect in cells that strengthens mitochondria. The mitochondria are the powerhouse of our cells. They are where the cell’s energy is made.
The energy-carrying molecule found in the cells of all living things is called ATP (adenosine triphosphate). By improving the mitochondria’s functionality, our cells can make more ATP. With more energy, cells can work better, revitalize themselves, and repair damage.
A couple years ago I tried 6 sessions of RLT utilizing a converted tanning bed from a local spa. I noticed no physically visible or energetically feelable result after, so I wrote off RLT as not really working for me. However, in April of 2019 at PaleoFX, I had the chance to try out Red Rush 720 Ultra and the Joovv Go Red Portable and things changed.
I was flabbergasted at the rush of energy and wellness that I felt from the Joovv Go Red Portable on my face the first day I was at PaleoFX, and I felt the same way the next day after trying out the Red Therapy Company‘s Red Rush 720. That was enough to make me pay serious attention to Red Light Therapy.
So, for my experiment in Red Light Therapy, I purchased the following unit from Paleo FX:
Manufacturer: Red Therapy Company LLC
Model: RedRush 720 ULTRA Body Light (660nm RED & 850nm NIR Combo)
Joovv and Red Therapy Company were both represented at PaleoFX, but the Red Rush has a stronger light output and includes Near InfraRed (NIR) in the panel version for about ½ the price of the Joovv. In the future, I may do another article on NIR.
The RLT system did take over a month to arrive, but that was disclosed when I purchased it in April and the tracking website was updated regularly on when orders were expected to be and were being shipped. My first red light session with the freshly unpackaged Red Rush 720 was on June 15, 2019 in the afternoon. I felt energized as anticipated and I also noticed that this thing is bright enough to light up a room during daytime with the shades pulled in my house!
After 16 days of Red Light Therapy, I could happily report that It did indeed improve energy and my skin looks and feels better, at least to me. I then took a 5 day break from using RLT due to being on vacation. While I may be able to pack this unit into our camper, I don’t want to chance damaging it. I felt no ill effects from not doing my RLT during camping.
When we got back from camping, it was later at night and I hadn’t had a chance all day to get any RLT therapy and I wanted it. I thought to myself “I wonder what would happen if I spent my 20 minutes of RLT before bedtime instead of during the day or in the morning?” The answer was that I went to bed feeling energized, but I fell asleep within 20 minutes and slept even more magnificently than usual.
The next night I tried 25-30 minutes of RLT and went to sleep within 20 minutes again and slept as well as the first night. Over the last 1.5 weeks, I have gotten to the point where I will RLT myself before bedtime and within 40 minutes, I get super relaxed and tired. I then go crawl into bed, or on the floor (where I also sleep when the mood hits me – I have a nice blanket there too!) and get a blissful night’s sleep.
Cheater secret, if I just use red light and my orange lens (blue-light blocking) glasses, I can even be working on the computer in front of a large monitor at night and still get tired and go to bed within the same 30-45 minute time frame.
That’s it for now. Thank you for reading. Make it a magnificent week. If you have an idea for an article or want to engage my consulting or research services, please contact me.
Wishing you happiness, health, and success!
